I already was beginning to consider Kohei Uchimura one of the best gymnasts of all time, but this new skill just put him in a whole new category for me. I don't believe he has competed this yet, but here is footage of him throwing a NEAR PERFECT triple twisting double back on the real floor!

As I've ruminated over the specialist-favored trends in gymnastics that have developed over the last decade, I've realized that a lot of the problems that have been created are due to a lack of advancement in competition formats and team sizes. Why can't gymnastics at worlds and the Olympics become more like swimming and track and field?

It's unfortunate that Ekaterina Kramarenko is most famous for the zero she scored on vault in the 2007 world team finals. As you'll see from these videos, this Russian all-arounder who recently returned to competition has perhaps been a bit under-appreciated by the international gymnastics community.
