AAI recommends the use of a transition block in addition to a landing pit for safety purposes. The transition block provides the needed support if an athlete runs long on a routine and tries to dismount in the “No Tumble Zone”. Athletes must be trained to dismount prior to this area for safety reasons, as well as equipment longevity.
