Last weekend I had the opportunity to watch the first ever Georgia boys’ state team finals – a separate day of competition for the top six Level 5 and Level 6 boys’ teams. I’ve heard of girls at those levels having state team finals, but I had never heard of such a concept on the boys’ side. This is how it worked:

My thoughts on the American Cup…Part 1
Much has been said about the outstanding men’s field at this year’s American Cup. I’d have to agree. We’ve got some of the most exciting all-around competitors from all over the world, not to mention the two gymnasts whom most would call America’s very best right now.
It’s exciting to see things finally starting to take shape again in women’s gymnastics after a bit of a crazy 2009. We had numerous gymnasts injured, numerous gymnasts in between retiring and making “comebacks,” a bit of a weak national championships and world championships as a result of the age rule, and some strange new rules to deal with.
Wow. This is truly a landmark day in women’s gymnastics…though I wish it were for a different reason. I’m sure many of you have read (or will very soon read) about the FIG ruling that Dong Fangxiao was, in fact, underage at both the 1999 world championships and 2000 Olympics

USA Men becoming stronger on pommel horse? After taking a look at some videos from the recent Winter Cup, I’d say the answer is a resounding YES!!!
Aly Raisman the second gymnast for American Cup? I think it’s possible. After a couple posters reminded me, I did realize that there are some gymnasts who were juniors last year who will be turning 16 this year, and thus are now “seniors” and eligible for the world team.
