Some thoughts on the women’s nationals!

Some random thoughts about the women’s U.S. Championships last weekend… * I’m so happy for Bridget Sloan. After looking a bit like her pre-Olympic uptight self on Day 1, she calmed down quite a bit and seemed to remember that she was the only Olympian fighting for the all-around title on Day 2. She totally stepped it up and genuinely deserved this win. I can’t wait to see how she stacks up in the all-around against the rest of the world in October – I think she could surprise some people...

Is senior women’s gymnastics becoming extinct?

I really enjoyed this year’s nationals. It was great to see so many of the faces from the last quadrennium finally grace our television screens again, and there are definitely some exciting new challengers on the horizon on both the men’s and women’s sides. Now having said that, I also want to point out just how much more impressed I am with our men’s team than our women’s team.

Men’s USA’s Preview!

It’s that exciting time of year again in the gymnastics world…August! Every year the national championships brings a whole new set of stories, and all of us hardcore gymnastics fans love seeing how they all play out. This year is an exciting one because we have a unique clash of generations, with multiple 2008 Olympians and Olympic alternates going head to head with some brand new stars for national titles and spots on our world championship teams.

Kayla Williams…a threat for the world championships?

Kayla Williams…America’s new floor and vault specialist? This girl is the real deal. I didn’t even know about her myself until I noticed that she won both floor and vault at the Covergirl Classic this weekend, and I decided to look up some videos of her. I was astonished she’s been kept a secret until now.
