Alicia Sacramone Vault April National Team Training Camp

WOW!!!

I’m not sure if I’m more shocked that USA Gymnastics is posting videos from a national team training camp or that Alicia Sacramone is vaulting her handspring layout rudi as well as she’s ever done – with still nearly two months to go before the Olympic team is officially announced.

If Alicia is already back to form on vault, I expect that she is on beam as well.  This is important to note, because although the U.S. now has several world class vaulters without Sacramone, they aren’t overflowing with 15+ scores on beam. I strongly believe this team needs a third reliable beam worker (to join Wieber and Raisman) just as much as it needs a third bar worker, and this could put Sacramone right in the mix.  In 2010 and 2011, Sacramone was one of the most solid beam workers in the U.S. – as well as in the world.

In case you missed this video of Sarah Finnegan posted yesterday from the same training camp, here it is:

A fantastic triple turn.  She is fast on the rise, and right now appears to be a contender for at least an alternate spot on the Olympic team.

Thanks USA Gymnastics for giving us a rare look at what’s going on behind the Karolyi camp doors!
